چکیده

Colorectal cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed type of cancer worldwide with a high incidence and mortality rate. The long-term post-operational survival of colorectal cancer is limited by metastasis and chemoresistance. In this study, we demonstrated that CELF1 expression was upregulated in colorectal cancer. Knockdown of CELF1 expression in colorectal cancer cells inhibited cell proliferation and chemoresistance. Conversely, overexpression of CELF1 promoted colorectal cancer cell proliferation and chemoresistance. We also determined that loss of CELF1 expression downregulated the MAPK signaling pathway, and that CELF1 regulated colorectal cancer cell proliferation via activating the MAPK signaling pathway.

The Role of Cyclooxygenase-2 in Signaling Pathways Promoting Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. Various factors are involved in the development and progression of this disease. One of these agents is cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). COX-2 is a product of the PTGS2 gene and converts free arachidonic acid to prostaglandins. COX-2 is not naturally expressed in most normal cells. Noticeably, the increased expression of COX-2 has been ...

Cortactin promotes colorectal cancer cell proliferation by activating the EGFR-MAPK pathway

Cortactin (CTTN) is overexpressed in various tumors, including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and colorectal cancer (CRC), and can serve as a biomarker of cancer metastasis. We observed that CTTN promotes cancer cell proliferation in vitro and increases CRC tumor xenograft growth in vivo. CTTN expression increases EGFR protein levels and enhances the activation of the MAPK signaling path...

Novel Small Molecules against Two Binding Sites of Wnt2 Protein as potential Drug Candidates for Colorectal Cancer: A Structure Based Virtual Screening Approach

Wnts are the major ligands responsible for activating Wnt signaling pathway through binding to Frizzled proteins (Fzd) as the receptors. Among these ligands, Wnt2 plays the main role in the tumorigenesis of several human cancers especially colorectal cancer (CRC). Therefore, it can be considered as a potential drug target. The aim of this study was to identify potential drug candidates ...

Tanshinone IIA inhibits AGEs-induced proliferation and migration of cultured vascular smooth muscle cells by suppressing ERK1/2 MAPK signaling

Objective(s): Vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) play a key role in the pathogenesis of diabetic vascular disease. Our current study sought to explore the effects of tanshinone IIA on the proliferation and migration of VSMCs induced by advanced glycation end products (AGEs). Materials and Methods: In this study, we examined the effects of tanshinone IIA by cell proliferation assay and cell mi...

Increased chemoresistance via Snail–Raf kinase inhibitor protein signaling in colorectal cancer in response to a nicotine derivative

A tobacco-specific component, 4-methylnitrosamino-1-3-pyridyl-1-butanone (NNK), is a major risk factor for many cancers. Recent reports have demonstrated that NNK exposure may be associated with tumor progression and chemoresistance in certain cancers. However, the underlying NNK-induced mechanism contributing to the aggressiveness of colorectal cancer (CRC) has not been thoroughly studied. In ...
